My scan was booked for 2. Now I am aware that you need a full bladder but having to wait nearly an hour to be able to go to the toilet made me feel really uncomfortable and I just had to go. When I finally went in for my scan the sonographer was extremely rude and had a go at me because my bladder wasn’t full enough. I tried to explain to her that I completely understand when they are running behind but I was getting extremely uncomfortable and was starting to worry that I might get a UTI if I held it in much longer, something I suffer with and this is one of the triggers. She then made me go and sit outside and drink 3 bottles of water and told me that I was making them even later now. After I drank the water I went back in, she started the scan and for a good 5 minutes she didn’t say anything which due to previous bad experiences I know this isn’t always a good sign! My husband asked if she could see a baby and she snapped back ‘I wouldn’t be doing all this if I couldn’t! I thought throughout the whole experience she was extremely rude, she never once explained what she was doing and why just grunted everytime myself or my husband asked her something. I found the whole experience horrendous and if I have to see her again I will probably go elsewhere to have my baby.

Practical Obstetrical Ultrasound, p Rockville, MD, Aspen, Averaging the gestational ages derived from two or more measurements has been shown to be more accurate than using any single parameter. Because of the greater accuracy of the early study, ultrasound examinations subsequent to an early study should not be used to revise the estimated date of confinement EDC , but rather should be used as a measure of the quality of fetal growth between the two studies. Similarly, it is not appropriate to revise an EDC on the basis of an ultrasound examination if the patient’s menstrual dates are within the range of error of the ultrasound method.
If significant discrepancy is seen between two ultrasonographically measured fetal dimensions more than a 2-week difference , then the ultrasonographer must consider the possibility of an error in measurement technique.

Original date given was 18 December but at the scan it was moved to 31 Dec. It just doesn’t quite add up by my reckoning of when I think I ovulated and when I know we did the deed! Unless you have an early pregnancy scan most of you will be given your estimated due date at the week scan.
Apr 24, · I had a scan at 6 weeks and saw the egg sac, booked in for 8 weeks to see a heartbeat, yay. I had the normal 12 week dating scan- it was amazing to see how different she looked in those 4 weeks, no wonder I felt tired.
Iam 26 weeks 3 dys today.. When I had my scan at 26weeks 1day, the baby was measuring 25 weeks 2 days. The baby is measuring 6 days behind.. The doctor gave protein powder for the growth of the baby.. The doctor said me not to worry at this point bcos the baby is fine and it could flip at any point.. Iam greatly worried…Does the breech position affect the growth of the baby…Anyone else in the same situation..
What should I do to increase the growth of my baby…plz help me out.. April 14 I don’t know if it was the tone in which your doctor told you or just the normal worries of a new-mommy-to-be but just FYI- all babies do not grow at the gestational rate of their mama and often measure anywhere from weeks behind to weeks ahead. Also breech position has nothing to do with growth issues unless you have an abnormally shaped uterus but even then it is unlikely to have a significant impact on the growth of your baby.
There is also no reason to be concerned that your baby is in the breech position.

When the pregnancy hits the 20th week of gestation, an anatomy ultrasound is often ordered. This sonogram is used to determine fetal anomalies, the baby’s size and weight, and also to measure growth to ensure that the fetus is developing properly. By the 20th week of pregnancy, the baby can weigh up to 11 ounces and measure 10 inches outstretched. The fetus has fingerprints, tiny arms and legs, and the genitalia is often formed. The rate of growth from the 20th week until the 40th week will increase exponentially.
Basically, the technician or the doctor will be looking for any signs of slower than normal development. The skeleton should be hardening at this point and the sex of the baby may be visible. In many cases, the baby may have their legs crossed or be facing away from the abdomen and thus the sexual organs will not be visible during the anatomy ultrasound. What Will Happen During the Ultrasound?
After the pregnant woman is called into the ultrasound room, she will be asked to lie flat on an ultrasound table.
